President/CEO: Carl Hoff has been with BUCRA for over 29 years. He has served as President for 26 of those years. Prior to his employment at BUCRA, he was the Director of Finance at Rice Growers Association of California, a CPA for the Big Four accounting firm of KPMG in Sacramento, and has also worked in a consulting practice in Chico. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Chico State University.
CFO: Naomi has a rich background in grower owned cooperatives. Prior to accepting the CFO position at BUCRA, she was the CFO for Oregon Cherry Growers, a grower-owned cooperative in Salem Oregon that has plants in the Willamette valley and The Dalles. Prior to that, she was the CFO for Rainsweet, Inc., another grower owned cooperative in the Salem area that packs and sells blackberries, raspberries, onions, bean sprouts and blueberries. She has also worked for Pacific Natural Foods and Kettle Foods, both in the Portland /Salem area. Naomi has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Central Washington University.
VP, Supply Division: Fred Freitas has been with BUCRA for 18 years. He has managed the Supply Division since 2016. He has both a PCA and a CCA license and has over 27 years in the fertilizer and chemical business. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business from Chico State University.
VP, Drier and Seed Division Division Manager: Eddie has extensive experience in the rice industry, spending more than two decades working in the long grain market in the South. He worked for Riviana Foods for 20 years, holding various positions from Quality Control Manager to Plant Manager of the Abbeville Mill. He then operated the Planters Rice Mill for 11 years as the General Manager.
Eddie holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Industrial Technology from the College of Engineering at the University of Southwestern Louisiana. In addition, he served in the U.S. Navy and received advance training in electronics and robotics.
Pinnacle Rice Marketing Division: Stuart grew up in Southern California and after graduating from UC Davis in 2008 began working in Corporate Finance. He then transitioned quickly into the rice industry as an agricultural economist and commodity trader.
Stuart consults for various trade and government organizations throughout the Western Hemisphere and routinely speaks on rice market conditions in both domestic and international rice events.
Pinnacle Rice Marketing Division: Logan grew up in Northern California in a small community with strong agricultural roots. After he graduated from UC Davis in 2006 with a BS in Managerial Economics, and earned his MBA in 2009 with an emphasis in System Dynamics in the global rice industry.
Logan serves in a Leadership role state-wide for the California Rice Commission, and industry committees nationally as well. Logan has been an active member of the California rice industry for well over a decade.
Research Manager: John is an experienced agronomist with a background in large-scale farming operations in northern California. He has expertise in developing and managing crop irrigation, fertility, and IPM programs for various crops. John has extensive experience managing farm data and performing analytics necessary to drive major farm decisions for yield maximization and cost reduction.
He has obtained a BS in Plant Biology from Brigham Young University with minors in Organic Chemistry and Business Management, and a MS in Agronomy from the University of Tennessee with a minor in Statistics. He holds both a PCA and CCA license.
